Ride a bike fast down a hill with no thought of consequence. Drive under an open sky with nothing else in view. Run through a field at sunset. For a moment, you feel a weightless, bird's-eye freedom—rare in daily life and almost impossible to hold onto.
That feeling is what I'm chasing every time I paint.
I work intuitively, without a plan, letting feeling lead rather than intention. Each canvas becomes a way of reaching into my subconscious to find the stories that live there, half-hidden, waiting to surface. I work fast and unguarded, in layers—pencil, charcoal, oil pastel, and acrylic—building up and sanding back, again and again, until the heart of the piece reveals itself.
Painting is my sanctuary. Through hard physical seasons, it's been my refuge from pain—a place to let the reckless energy in my body move through each layer until the noise quiets and something like hope comes through.
My palette leans toward the colours of sunset and sea—deep, warm, fluid, and in constant transition.
In the end, painting is a conversation with myself. It's how I search for freedom, for peace, and for the moments when the work and I fall into the same quiet place.
