About The Artwork
“Maia” May is a colourful time of year in nature. In Roman mythology Maia as a goddess promoted growth. She came to personify spring and fertility, and is said to have given her name to the month of May (Latin Maius). This was created in May 2023 as Spring began to show itself around me; the snowdrops turned to bluebells, the trees and grass started to show their hidden colour and bulbs showed that landscapes full of colour where not far away. A riot of colour!
