About The Artwork
Material Boy is a 90cm x 90cm abstract painting using cracking medium, pumice paste, gel, metallic spray paint and acrylic paints on cotton canvas. Samuel has used grey, white and shades of pink to create this beautiful composition which reflects beauty and elegance. Samuel thought the painting evoked femininity in a colour palette that is usually assigned to women. The name is a reversal of Madonna’s song material girl, because this boy likes material things too… and the colour pink! Samuel combined metallic paints alongside acrylics to create a contrast in the finish. Both types look fantastic on the canvas, but the shiny metallic pink looks especially beautiful on the textured surface. Material Boy is fixed within a black stained oak frame measuring 93.5cm x 93.5cm x 3.5cm Material Boy is signed on the back by Samuel.
