ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a self-portrait in an idealized, painterly manner. The title and theme of the painting is from my own mother’s phraseology; McSweeny Always Gets Caught. Any time any of us children were in trouble this phrase got mentioned, and it still, unfortunately, applies to me in my life. The process of this painting went very quickly in its application of oil paint to canvas. I didn’t “mess” with it, just went with the flow. It is the last in a series of 3 canvases, based solely on my state of mind at the time and what was going on in my life as well.
