Memory Painting

Inspired by the abstract expressionists, I layered paint upon paint, scratching back into previous layers, covering up shapes, to portray the feeling of a faded memory. The viewer may see what could be a scene by a river under the sun, perhaps on a hazy spring day. I experienced many difficult things as a child, and as a result I have very little memory of my childhood. Sometimes I try to scratch through the layers of years passed to perhaps retrieve some of the pleasant memories that may be hiding beneath; I have attempted to express this process in this painting.
