ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was one of my first experiences playing with glow in the dark spray paint, and incorporating it with realistic painting. The subject is again based on a baroque painting of the Penitent Magdalene, a subject I always find very personally touching because of her touching expressions. In a time period where most portraits were very stoic and calm, the Magdalene was always painted expressively and honestly. Here, the subject is shown contemplating a skull, tears streaming down her face.
