Peter Goss

About the Artist

Peter Goss

United Kingdom

Peter grew up in rural south Warwickshire on the edge of the Cotswolds, surrounded by beautiful countryside. As a boy he was never far from a sketchbook, and was soon creating paintings using oils, watercolour and pastels, many of which were exhibited and sold locally. He was encouraged by his teachers, family and friends, some of whom were (and are!) popular artists themselves. He completed his first commission at 17 before studying mechanical engineering and being getting distracted by a career.

Peter has a studio at home (although he'd like a larger one!) and uses it to paint the local landscape, places he visits with his young family and to work on his commissioned art from photographs. Favouring acrylic as a medium, enjoying the vibrant colours that the best quality acrylic paints offer, but as ever enjoys working in oils and sketching in charcoal, ink and pencil. While he always wanted to be a landscape painter, Peter enjoys adding people into his scenes and does so with increasing regularity.

His simple artistic ambition is to create paintings people enjoy! Peter amuses himself playing with colour, has a "direct" style and a talent for capturing the "feeling of a place" without getting too bogged down in the details.
