About The Artwork

Fabiola Quezada mixes the cultural influences of Mexico with those of classical European culture and the inspirations of modern painting.- My painting contributes to gender equality in art and breaks stereotypes. It prevents men alone from creating the self-referential image of masculinity. With my painting I contribute to that chapter of art history that we lack, that feminine view of the naked male human figure.- The human body’s vision has been dominated by men, even after more than 20 centuries of classical art history. Today, women painters focus on their own bodies and leave the artistic statements about men's bodies to male painters. My paintings break this vision of the naked human figure, that has been dominated by men artist throughout the art history. My paintings show men’s vulnerability, not the patriarchal gaze that for centuries enjoyed life at the expense of women. My feminine gaze shows the image of the other side of the masculinity, which positively deals with one's own weakness to develop a healthy masculinity, accepting the fragility of the body without the need to show strength. ©Fabiola Quezada
