This painting is #3 of "The Midnight Blue Series" that was born over the recent summer of 2015. This series emerged suddenly and forcefully after several months of painting in which multiple pieces emerged that were precursors to it. Some other pieces from the series are viewable now in my Saatchi portfolio. Others are still in progress and will be posted in coming weeks so please check back. The series is still very much in progress and evolving as we speak.

Though this series generally employs certain techniques that typify my work, it is also a departure in some important respects. It is the first time I see the influence of Paul Klee so strongly in my work in integrations of softer, subtler, pastel-ish forms and lines against my often bold and deeply or darkly colored backdrops. A successful balance of soft and light with hard and dark is not easy to achieve.

This is a classic abstract painting in the tradition of twentieth century European modernism. It is no doubt a reflection of psychic depths and thoughts, feelings and experiences not easily accessed or remembered during the light of day, of the very fertile, deep sensing, intuitive thinking and feeling states available it seems only in the very late night/early morning hours.

Technology has played an important role in the development of my work as an artist. Though I consider myself primarily a painter, I feel that much of my most original and progressive work is in the newly emergent digital medium. I grew up artistically in the heart of a technological hub and this was central to the integration of technology with my art. I do not believe that technology is "the" future of art. I believe that technology, like every innovation in art before it, is an exciting new aspect of modern art and I feel honored to be a part of that. I am also a theorist on the nascent field of contemporary metapsychology.
