My father in law has always been a mechanic. In Cuba, this is a hard job, marked by tenacity, tiredness and subsistence. About the Artist

Sandra Naranjo

United States

Sandra Naranjo was born in Matanzas, Cuba. In this place began his artistic studies, which then continued in Havana, Cuba, at the Superior Art Institute. Currently lives and works in Naples, Florida, US. Since the year 2010, works with her husband the artist Emmanuel Díaz, they formed an artistic duo called Sandra Emmanuel Studio.
The general theme of their work is the human being: art, sensuality and the individual existential social and universal conflicts. All this as a reflection of their personal experiences and the reality of Cuba, their country of origin.
They develop a figurative work that is expressed through different manifestations and techniques. In a number of ways, often using repetition and using various symbolic elements, such as mechanical gears, sequins, letters or animals; the work creates a dialog with the viewer where highlights the illusion. The possible interpretations of their works arise from the relationship and the contrast that is established between the overall image displayed, and the symbolic element that makes it up. Sandra Emmanuel Studio displays pieces that seem to be far and others close because of the visual play, using a technique that is very particular born of the personal research and experimentation with the materials.
