About the Artist

George Davis

United States

Originally from Texas, George Evan Davis has lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for almost 40 years. He started painting while still in high school and planned on taking the art world by storm. However, after living the life of a starving artist, he put his dream on hold and over the course of the next 45 years had two successful careers.

Retired (and no longer starving), he has picked up where he once left off and is following his dream of creating art full time.

He regularly shows his work in exhibitions (New York City, Houston, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii), galleries (Cedar Street Gallery and the Downton Art Center Gallery, Honolulu), and has his work in private collections in Hawaii, Texas, New York, London, and California.

Working primarily in oils and acrylics, he has developed a style that, like gender, is fluid and unconfined. Sometimes his work is realistic and representative, and other times it’s abstract and conceptual.

George's current work is an outlet for the conflict and frustration he feels about events, both global and in the U.S. His mission is to create art for people who are also conflicted about these things so that they can see there is someone who understands exactly how they feel.
