About the Artist

Maja Gajewska

Poland

MAJA GAJEWSKA - born in 1982 in Lodz (Poland). Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (2001-2006). Master's degree at the Faculty of Graphic Art (2006). Winner of the silver medal "Lorenzo il Magnifico" in the mixed media category for the work "Polish Women - Polish Swallows" during the 13th Biennale in Florence 2021.

The artist creates within oil painting, spatial installation, graphics and drawing. Her painting is characterized by the search for new forms, lines and colorful patches. She rejects figurativeness for internal structure.
In spatial installations, a strictly rigorous form transfers the power of work to expression and not to specific performance. Intentional lack of background causes that the central part of the work is the wire "entanglement", from which the outlines of undefined human figures emerge.
The graphics show a minimalist approach to the form and colour.

Since 2013 she has been running her own Art Studio. In addition to individual and collective exhibitions, her works also appear on many cultural events, such as Art Fairs, Design Festivals. She cooperates with Art Galleries, interior designers and architectural studios. Her works can be found in private collections, including Austria, Belgium, France, Spain, Canada, Sweden, Great Britain and USA.
