About The Artwork

Momentary pain Can be pleasure lain Will a second change? Magic lantern strange Are we just too far, to be as one again? Are we obsidian? Is this how it is? Girl, your life will turn Just like a strobe Because you're daddy's pain And your mother won't And your heart engages into heartless throes Are we obsidian? Is it how it goes? When you're drivin' night is dreamin' Livin' the strobe light And you will find the life you needed Livin' the strobe light Slide the light off you You may find some peace All will come to you If you come with me Are we just too far to be as one again? Are we obsidian? Is this how it ends? (Yeah!) When you're drivin' night is dreamin' Livin' the strobe light And you will find the life you needed Livin' the strobe light Oh yeah! When you're drivin' night is dreamin' Livin' the strobe light And you will find the life you needed Livin' the strobe light When you're drivin' night is dreamin' Livin' the strobe light And you will find the life you needed Livin' the strobe light And when you got it See it in your dreams You get hit by the strobe light You've got to find it, we all need it We get hit by the strobe light And when you got it See it in your dreams You get hit by the strobe light You've got to find it, we all need it We get hit by the strobe light ‘Strobelite’ by Gorillaz Songwriters: Damon Albarn / Anthony Khan / Peven Everett "Strobelite" is a single by English virtual band Gorillaz, released on their fifth studio album Humanz. It features guest vocals by Peven Everett. The single was released on 4 August 2017. The music video to "Strobelite" was released on 7 August 2017. It was created by Passion Pictures. The video is set in a dance club, featuring animated band members 2-D and Noodle dancing center stage amongst a crowd of clubgoers as collaborator Peven Everett sings from the sidelines. A combination of live-action and 3D CGI shots were used to create the video, much like the music video for Gorillaz' 2010 single "Stylo". Motion capture was utilized to animate the virtual band members. The video features cameos by several Gorillaz collaborators, including Vince Staples, Posdnous of De La Soul, Savages' Jehnny Beth, Phil Cornwell, the voice of Gorillaz band member Murdoc Niccals, and Jamie Hewlett, the co-creator of Gorillaz. Humanz is the fifth studio album by virtual band Gorillaz. It was released on 27 April 2017 in the United Kingdom by Parlophone and in the United States by Warner Bros. Records. The album was announced on the band's official Instagram page on 23 March 2017. According to a press release, it was recorded in London, Paris, New York City, Chicago, and Jamaica, and was produced by the band, The Twilite Tone, and Remi Kabaka Jr. It was the band's first studio album since 2010's The Fall, and features collaborations with Jehnny Beth, Grace Jones, Kali Uchis, Vince Staples, Popcaan, D.R.A.M., Anthony Hamilton, De La Soul, Danny Brown, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Pusha T, and Benjamin Clementine. Humanz debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, selling over 140,000 copies in its first week of sales. It also debuted at number one in Austria and Switzerland, and at number three in Belgium. The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, losing to The National's Sleep Well Beast. Gorillaz are a British virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band primarily consists of four animated members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Their fictional universe is presented in music videos, interviews and short cartoons. In reality, Albarn is the only permanent musical contributor, and Gorillaz' music often features collaborations with a wide range of featured artists. Remi Kabaka Jr. became producer for the band in 2016 after several years providing the voice of Russel Hobbs and was listed as an official member alongside Albarn and Hewlett in the 2019 documentary Gorillaz: Reject False Icons. With Gorillaz, Albarn departed from the distinct Britpop of his band Blur, exploring a variety of musical styles including hip hop, electronic music, and world music through an "eccentrically postmodern" approach. The band's 2001 debut album Gorillaz, which featured dub and Latin influences, went triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in Europe, with sales driven by the success of the album's lead single "Clint Eastwood". Their second studio album, Demon Days (2005), went 6 times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US and spawned the successful lead single "Feel Good Inc.". The band's third album, Plastic Beach (2010), featured environmentalist themes, an electropop approach and an expanded roster of featured artists. Their fourth album, The Fall, was recorded on the road during the Escape to Plastic Beach Tour and released on 25 December 2010. The band's fifth album, Humanz, was released after a 7-year hiatus on 28 April 2017. Their sixth album, The Now Now (2018), featured stripped-down production and a greater musical focus on Albarn. Gorillaz' latest project is Song Machine, a music-based web series with episodes that consist of standalone singles and accompanying music videos featuring different guests each episode, resulting in their seventh album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez (2020). Gorillaz has presented itself live in a variety of different ways throughout the band's history, such as hiding the live band from the audience's view in the early years of the project, projecting animated band members on stage via computer graphics and traditional live touring featuring a fully visible live band. The band have sold over 23 million records worldwide and are cited by Guinness World Records as the world's "Most Successful Virtual Band". They have won a Grammy Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, an NME Award and three MTV Europe Music Awards. They have also been nominated for 11 Brit Awards and won Best British Group at the 2018 Brit Awards. Source: WIkipedia

I’m (I am?) a self-taught artist, originally from the north suburbs of Chicago (also known as John Hughes' America). Born in 1984, I started painting in 2017 and began to take it somewhat seriously in 2019. I currently reside in rural Montana and live a secluded life with my three dogs - Pebbles (a.k.a. Jaws, Brandy, Fang), Bam Bam (a.k.a. Scrat, Dinki-Di, Trash Panda, Dug), and Mystique (a.k.a. Lady), and five cats - Burglekutt (a.k.a. Ghostmouse Makah), Vohnkar! (a.k.a. Storm Shadow, Grogu), Falkor (a.k.a. Moro, The Mummy's Kryptonite, Wendigo, BFC), Nibbler (a.k.a. Cobblepot), and Meegosh (a.k.a. Lenny). Part of the preface to the 'Complete Works of Emily Dickinson helps sum me up as a person and an artist: "The verses of Emily Dickinson belong emphatically to what Emerson long since called ‘the Poetry of the Portfolio,’ something produced absolutely without the thought of publication, and solely by way of expression of the writer's own mind. Such verse must inevitably forfeit whatever advantage lies in the discipline of public criticism and the enforced conformity to accepted ways. On the other hand, it may often gain something through the habit of freedom and unconventional utterance of daring thoughts. In the case of the present author, there was no choice in the matter; she must write thus, or not at all. A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spending years without settling her foot beyond the doorstep, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to her father's grounds, she habitually concealed her mind, like her person, from all but a few friends; and it was with great difficulty that she was persuaded to print during her lifetime, three or four poems. Yet she wrote verses in great abundance; and though brought curiosity indifferent to all conventional rules, had yet a rigorous literary standard of her own, and often altered a word many times to suit an ear which had its own tenacious fastidiousness." -Thomas Wentworth Higginson "Not bad... you say this is your first lesson?" "Yes, but my father was an *art collector*, so…"
