This painting is from The Zookeepers series under the Mulberry Street Collection. Mulberry Street is a fictional neighborhood with a series for each home. Just as homes within any neighborhood vary in style and substance, so do the homes on Mulberry Street. The Zookeepers are a couple who've dedicated their home and themselves to animals. Sometimes this creates particular problems and beautiful scenery. The painting is coated with varnish and wired to hang.

Born and raised in the Upper Midwest, Shawna draws deep from the winter-forged well of her over-active imagination. She tends to paint things that amuse or puzzle her. Her folk-style paintings explore many topics such as science, metaphors, nature, humor, patterns, paradoxes, fairytales and a wide variety of musings on domestic subjects. Shawna graduated in 2000 from the University of Minnesota - Duluth with a BFA in Studio Art, Emphasis on Drawing and Printmaking. She has exhibited both locally and nationally. Shawna lives with her verbally talented husband, their twins and a menagerie of critters in a lively neighborhood near lovely Lake Superior.
