"Momma" Painting

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I grew up during a time when hip hop culture was just making it's way to the mainstream. With it came a burst of expressive freedom from an urban perspective... my perspective.My art represents the myriad spirit and emotion of urban life, with an emphasis on LIFE, as seen through my eyes, imagined in my mind and felt in my heart. That Life in my art is not limited to any one physical location, but expanded upon in an attempt to embrace a universal perspective.When I sit down to paint or draw, I try hard not to think with the idea of what one may consider acceptable, or what another may feel is appropriate. I just try to apply my artistic knowledge and experience to recreate whats in my mind, whether its through sheer imagination or direct and indirect experience. I do believe a colorful imagination, experience, knowledge and a mind open to receive more are principal in helping to nurture artistic growth, and that is what I try to apply in my work.
