About The Artwork
The idea of painting cats at dinner parties came when I was close to the Canadian artist and gold-medal winning figure skater, Toller Cranston. He would have these outrageous parties to which I would be invited, and somehow the image of cats dining seemed to capture the feeling the best. I tried to get inside the head of a cat - what sort of art they would have, what they would eat, etc. In this particular painting, which was made for a show in the South of France, I have "the Rock" of Monaco in one window and the Monaco harbor in the other.
