Monster 34 x 55 x 1.5” Mixed Media on Canvas. 2021 - Through my paintings, I evoke a surrealistic space in which the possibilities of the future become tangible through the process of imagination. By utilizing my ability to paint and dream, I create paintings that evoke a watery sensibility through a whimsical space. I dream of a future world that is fluid. A world that glitters with the essence of pride. Through painting marbled pools or expansive oceans, I imagine a watery space that is airy, and blue; a space that glimmers within the shadow of ultraviolence, and luminescence of queer waters. My work embodies the vision of a queer liberated body, exemplifying gay pride. Hence, manifesting my own vision of an empowered queer future. * Colors and details may vary from digital photograph to original artwork. All images copyright © of Nicole Melnicky.

"I create colorful abstract paintings on feminism, gender, and queer sexuality. Bold reds, pinks, and purples surface in my color palette, exuding a potent bodily and visceral quality. Through abstraction I transform my pain into power, by reclaiming my core wounding through electrified color, fluid tubular shapes, and the queer body. I transcend my pain, by pouring light into my wounds, and transmuting it. By utilizing my intuition, I create paintings that evoke a mysterious and futuristic sensibility. As I envision the emergence of a mysterious, supernatural, and romantic queer future. By the imagining of a shared twin flame love, a mirror, glimmering with the light of ultraviolence, and luminescence of healing, and love. I manifest my own ethereal dream and vision of a queer utopia, eternal twin flame union." - Nicole Melnicky All images copyright © of Nicole Melnicky.
