ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Improvisation abstract inspired by the drawings/paintings of Giorgio Morandi. His masterful crosshatched drawings are always something I deeply admire and I learn from. In this painting I tried to use his crosshatching method in the paint strokes. Forming shapes but never a hard line. Each shape blending into the next. I limited the colors to a subdued tertiary range . The medium is encaustic and acrylic which adds a soft luminous quality. The painting is unframed and the edges are painted with a grayed out neutral color from the painting .
