ABOUT THE ARTWORK

An original landscape on canvas. 48x24inches. 120x60cms 49x25 inches framed size Lovely soft pinks and ochres with more muted neutral colours form the peaceful calming palette. The shape of the canvas is good for hanging above either a bed or a sofa as well as over a fireplace. Also suitable for an office setting. This painting is inspired by a 10 day visit on the Isle of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides. I was supposed to be fishing but the landscape was so enticing that I spent days just doing colour studies in my sketchbook…this loch [just in front of the lodge] provided an endless source of inspiration with the light changing constantly according to the weather. Framed and ready to hang. The bespoke wood frame is painted white and is a contemporary box style.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

The landscape is my main source of subject for painting - particularly the orderly impact on the landscape of human habitation and farming. The framework imposed by fencing hedges ditches etc and the impact these divisions have on the land is always interesting. Colours lent to the land for a few months by growing crops is another element. The rather harsh lemon of the rape or mustard crops, the cool blue of a linseed field, the effervescent mixture of echinacea flowers - all these colours provide problems for an artist. While they are very dramatic , visually they don’t sit well with the native trees and hedge colours, but I am drawn to them as a subject on exactly that account. This is what inspires my work - colour.
