ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The series of paintings "Sicilia", inspired by the rich and multifaceted nature in the suburbs of Syracuse, Sicily. Walking on the road, which extends several kilometers along the rocky coast, I was amazed by the beautiful landscapes of these places. There was a breathtaking view of volcano Etna and cliffs near the Ionian Sea. There was an indescribable feeling inside me that I had become a part of this powerful nature and completely dissolved in that place. Sicily and the city of Syracuse will forever remain in my heart. The series includes 9 works: 1. Road 2. A snake basking in the sun 3. Mount Etna 4. Cliff, cave and sea 5. Craggy coast 6. Gentle waves 7. Ionian Sea 8. Power of nature 9. Unity with nature

In contemporary world, human beings have been moving further away from their nature. We live in boxes made of glass and concrete, we hide our emotions, behave strictly and formally, we say what we need to, but not what we really think and feel. We are afraid to be courageous and original, because society forces us to be "standard", to hide our individuality. The creative career of Konstantin Lakstigal is a manifesto of the liberation of that repressed, but indestructible part of a real, living human nature that will always live inside of us. Konstantin Lakstigal was born in 2001 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Since his early childhood, he loved painting and art. In 2016 he graduated from the St. Petersburg City Children's Art School named after G.N. Antonov, St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2021, Konstantin finished the Foundation Year at the Syracuse Academy, Syracuse, Italy. In 2021, Konstantin entered the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Painting, Milan, Italy.
