I work out of my studio in Berlin. Brush and spray paint are my main tools of building an image. I am curious about the conversation these two dynamics create, and while paint on canvas is a century old practice, my questions are what can a medium of painting offer today and what can it become as a medium. My process is a combination of a thought-out system and spontaneity. On one hand there is methodical preparation while on the other, application of colour, is more of a rebel reaction towards a set process; driven by certain unstoppable adrenaline in anticipation of where it would lead; free and unconstrained. I construct each painting with a number of layers, revealing the fact that a large number of elements contribute to the way we experience the world/life at each particular moment in time. There is always so much more beneath the surface than visible to the eye. And another important element in my paintings is a sense of movement. For me movement and motion is essentially about something changing, something becoming different. Change is a driving force behind our lives, we don’t exist in stillness. And it’s that moment of action, when things transform that I am trying to highlight and capture.
