Conceptually, I was inspired by two images to create this painting composed with artificial intelligence. The first was a black-and-white photograph of the interior of the estate located at 30 Rue de la Pépinière in Brussels, Belgium, where Marcel Broodthaers "inaugurated" his fictional museum, the "Musée d'Art Moderne, Les Aigles, Section XIXe Siècle" in 1968. This artistic installation consisted of a group of empty art transport boxes that served as screens for slide projections and postcards of 19th-century French artworks taped to the wall. The second image was a work by Broodthaers in the shape of an arrow, indicating the direction of the "Section Cinéma" of his museum, along with its opening hours. From a formal perspective, I drew vague inspiration from the atmosphere and light treatment in the interior paintings of Spanish artist Antonio López, opting for a more simplified approach with fewer details. Davis Lisboa (São Paulo, Brazil, 1965) is a visual artist based in Barcelona since 1986. Throughout his career, he has worked across diverse media, including drawing, painting, digital art, and video, exploring the boundaries between applied and fine arts, high and low culture, art and the marketplace, as well as craftsmanship and technology. In addition to his work as an illustrator and painter, Lisboa is the creator of the Davis Museum | The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, an innovative online project that functions both as a work of art in its own right and as a platform for the promotion of international contemporary artists. This mini-museum, conceived as a conceptual artwork, challenges traditional exhibition conventions by presenting pieces that blur the lines between viewer and artwork, encouraging critical reflection on art accessibility and the democratization of culture. Lisboa has participated in numerous exhibitions and art events of international significance, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the global contemporary art scene.
