I try to work with memories and tangible artifacts and in this piece although it is mainly acrylic, I embedded parts of a ripped up letter from a friend in Germany that I must have kept for 2 decades.
It serves as a reminder of how the past is so different from the present. Letters are no longer sent or received and somehow it seems a little poignant to think that.

About The Artwork

I try to work with memories and tangible artifacts and in this piece although it is mainly acrylic, I embedded parts of a ripped up letter from a friend in Germany that I must have kept for 2 decades. It serves as a reminder of how the past is so different from the present. Letters are no longer sent or received and somehow it seems a little poignant to think that.

"I primarily paint abstracts whether it be in acrylic, oil, mixed media or collage... Colours and textures are always my main focus. I love to work in layers, often scraping back to see existing colours. I find that through the years of painting my influences have remained the same...Joan Snyder, Richard Diebenkorn, and Gerhard Richter to name the prominent ones. Even though languages and writing were my first passions, I graduated (as a mature student) from the University for the Creative Arts in London with a degree in creative arts. I have exhibited in India and in England. In the US I have had my works in exhibitions at Rutgers State University, The Works in San Jose and the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. In 2006 my work was chosen for the prestigious Lalit Kala Academy show in Karnataka, India. In May 2015 a painting was selected for a National Level juried exhibition where it won an award by Bodhi College of Art. I was born in Delhi, India, I then spent my childhood in England, and the beginning of my married life in California. I now live and work in Bangalore, India, and travel extensively to the UK and the US." Mini Arora's work is appreciated by collectors in the US, India, England, France, Scotland, Australia, Singapore, Austria and The Netherlands.
