"My Kiss Is My Super Power" Painting

Inspired by DC and Marvel Comics of the 1960s and 1970s. I love classic cartoons, comics and vintage advertising. I'm also inspired by vintage animation and rubber hose cartoons. I like to juxtapose elements of these into my works. Also inspired by the Pop Art Movement of the 1960s as well as other Neo-Pop Artists of today. Dr. Smash is a contemporary Neo-Pop Artist. Using iconic imagery from cartoons, comic books, film and advertising, he has been pushing the envelope of contemporary art. The orchestrated collision of street art and pop art has been his balancing act. Dr. Smash works in acrylics, spray paint, ink and assemblage. His paintings and drawings are a juxtaposition of inspiration from TV, comic books and pop culture with a fun and eclectic twist. Trying to capture the feeling and emotion of a moving cartoon on a flat canvas, or the mood one gets when flipping the pages of an old comic book, Dr. Smash's work incorporates fun, strange and recognizable subjects in disturbingly bizarre situations. Dr. Smash has a background in advertising, film and comics. His film and TV credits include: Lovecraft Country, Fantasy Island, Solar Opposites, Dreamwork’s 3Below, Bob’s Burgers, Insidious 4, Lego: Guardians of the Galaxy, Despicable Me 2, Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out, The Super Hero Squad Show, Marvel Heroes 4D, and Lego Hero Factory. Dr. Smash's comic book credits include: Heavy Metal Magazine, Bob’s Burgers, Warlash, DTOX, Zombie Terrors and Chicken Soup For Satan among others. His work has been exhibited at the Bruce Lurie Gallery, the Black Sheep Gallery, the La Luz De Jesus Gallery, Copro Gallery, Corey Helford Gallery, CASS Contemporary, Dark Art Emporium, Arch Enemy Arts, Phone Booth Gallery, Night Gallery Fine Arts and Cannibal Flower.
