About The Artwork

“My Offering” About my Art: Watercolor on paper 11x14” Wanted to try out watercolors to create a vibrant piece that has depth, dimension, and definition. Bold, and powerful it fits one of my favorite poetess Lal Ded”s works… I love Lal Ded and am a huge fan of her works my inspiration came from one of her poems Fondly called as Lad Ded (Mother Lalla), Lalleshwari was a 14th century Kashmiri mystic and poet. She was the creator of Vakhs, a kind of poetry. A revolutionary mystic of her time, Lal Ded’s verses are some of the earliest Kashmiri compositions and form an integral part of the Kashmiri literature. Also known as Lalla or Laleshwari, Lal Ded was an ardent devotee of God Shiva. She also often used her poetry to engage with Shaivism and Sufism. Lal Ded’s verses have come down from generations to generations through the folk tradition of Kashmir and perhaps there isn’t a single Kashmiri who hasn’t heard of her. Lalleshwari was known to be Kashmir’s rebel poetess for she challenged the ideas of caste system, social and religious discrimination and rejected conventional society. My heritage and lineage is from the Kashmiri valley, in present day India and I wanted to devote this piece of work in her honor. I hope you like my work and her poem. Can be framed. Match any decor. “wore myself out, looking for myself. No one could have worked harder to break the code. I lost myself in myself and found a wine cellar. Nectar, I tell you. There were jars and jars of the good stuff, and no one to drink it.” -Lal Ded

Manisha Sharma is an Indo-American full-time artist, poet, author, and spiritual thinker with ethnic roots from India. Being born in India the abode of spirituality, and immigrating to the United States she feels blessed to have experienced the best of both worlds, and is enjoying her journey as an artist and a humanitarian. Manisha firmly believes "everyone of us has the potential to be creative and to harness and express our innate wisdom and creativity.” Her inspiration comes from the beauty of living and says we live in a "Creative Universe" that itself is a work of art, filled with masterpieces of rivers, stars, mountains, children, clouds, flowers, animals, people, technology and simply life. Manisha leaves the interpretations of her works for the viewer to decide, and invites her audience to do some soul searching when viewing her art. She defines herself as an integral part of the wider global culture of conscious creativity. She reminds everyone to watch carefully what we allow into our minds and bodies, to be aware of the importance of healthy food production, cooking, eating and spiritual practices, being aware of how our daily actions (and “diets” of foods and ideas) influence our thoughts and transform our consciousness. Manisha encourages everyone to break free of toxic influences and take charge consciously. To develop our own creative potential and live in tune with the wisdom of nature. She creates her art with the use of acrylics, oils, charcoals, inks, pastels, organic paints, and digital mediums. She describes her works as a blend of Spirituality and Conscious Art. Manisha loves using vibrant colors in her compositions and says it energizes her soul. She firmly believes that colors can evoke passionate feelings and emotions and can be used as tools in unblocking one's own kundalini energy otherwise suppressed or blocked unconsciously in the various chakras. "Colors in nature or art are therapeutic and can be used as healing therapy to revive and rejuvenate the soul." Manisha is never afraid to try new color combinations in her compositions, and allows the process itself to guide her in her works. Her abstract art is more intuitive and she likes to explore different styles of art rather than restrict her creativity to one style.
