This is a playful piece that developed from some “shadow play“ photos created. I took the shadow concept further and played with the juxtaposition of shapes, colours and line. A friends profile is central to the piece and next to her is a “horse like” shape. Made from the shadows you make against the wall as a child.

There are symbolic elements scattered amongst the artwork, prominent shapes and a “spekboom” which is a South African plant.
This is a succulent that helps fight air pollution. It has the ability to ‘sequester’ or capture four to ten tons of carbon per hectare. 

All the different elements hover together creating a conversation about life, our planet, our childhood innocence and the human condition.
