Trudi Hipworth is an Australian abstract artist fascinated by the compositions, patterns and natural formations found throughout the natural world. She's drawn to the way colour, texture, shape and pattern come together, from weathered surfaces and stone to water and landscape. Those observations often become a starting point for her paintings.
Working in acrylic and mixed media, Hipworth builds and removes layers, allowing marks to appear, disappear and shift as the work develops. Rather than reproducing what she sees, she carries elements of these observations into the painting through abstraction.
Trudi works from her home studio in Langwarrin, Melbourne, surrounded by native bushland and the animal she shares her home with.
Since 2009, Hipworth has exhibited throughout Melbourne and Sydney, and her paintings are held in private collections across Australia, Europe and the United States.
