About The Artwork
Part of the Series Small Ports and Sea Coves, which includes larger work , this is part of a series of smaller 30x40cm pieces on paper, that can be bought together or stand alone. This series of work was made with pigments that have a relationship to the South West Coast of England, either as historical imports/exports, or from the earth or as pigments made from products of local mines. They reference the landscape in abstraction of local forms, and play with ideas of smuggled truths and lies , and the metaphorical relationship played out when hiding things under a tidal sea. There is a series of 7 images with the same format available which can be bought individually but hang together beautifully in groups of any size.
