ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a new addition to my series on figures in water, often in vague, dreamlike settings. The palette is very restrained, using deep cerulean blue, cobalt turquoise, yellow ochre and white along with the grease pencil line work. The water serpent adds a possible mythological/biblical theme and the viewer can insert their own storyline. The feeling is deeply reflective. The painting itself is done on the back of the glass, painted backwards. This is a salvaged window from an old craftsman house, and it has been trimmed down for lighter weight and a thinner appearance, but left rustic with some signs of age showing through the fresh paint. Signed within the painting and also on the back panel. A braided wire allows for conventional wall hanging.
