No.042 Wanky Recipes: Processed Cheese Slice, Straight Banna & A nob of Butter on a bed of Sea Greens.
This piece is not to be taken too seriously. I find it annoying how businesses can dress things up to seem more than they are, more than likely better, or to plainly out smart someone's intellectual level. Fancy (some would say Wanky) Restaurants are a prime example, not all mind, of over egging what you are getting to justify paying a fortune for it. Is that fair?
This is just a painting using bold colours, creating different shapes in different areas of the canvas.
I always like to leave the interpretation up to the viewer, rather than telling them what they should or shouldn't see. Its always fascinating to hear different peoples perspectives/opinions on my work.
Whether the viewer feels an emotional attachment to it or just simply "that's a cool painting, I really like that and it would look ace in my office/living room (wherever)" as long as they feel a positive connection to it, that's all I could ask for.
The paint has been applied using ink rollers, brushes, palette knives and scrapers. Some lines are free hand, others aided with masking tape.
My paintings are never an entirely flat/smooth surface. Layers and layers of paint are used creating natural lumps and bumps across the canvas, sometimes completely intentional and sometimes not. I use lots of different paint types, experimenting with texture and the final finishes you can achieve with each one.
All 4 canvas sides/edges are finished with a white emulsion. The edges will not always be totally smooth, as there may be some lumps and bumps from paint that has run over the sides and some of the colours may still be ever so slightly visible.
The name (Right) and number (Left) of the artwork is handwritten on the back of the canvas on the top stretcher bar, not usually visible. Just lift up the bit of canvas below the staples and there it will be.
*Please note: There are no fixings in place for hanging, nor do I supply these. This is up to yourself the buyer to decide and execute depending on whether you want the artwork to hang in situ framed or un-framed.*
