Born on the French Riviera, Rimp is very early aware of modern art through the passage in this place of great masters like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse or Fernand Léger. He currently lives in Chavanay, near Lyon in France. Captivated by Cubism for its search for new forms and Surrealism for its liberation from the process of the unconscious, artists like Braque and Picasso have strongly influenced it in its approach, as well as others, more contemporary from the urban scene as Keith Haring in his search for personal writing. Rimp will also draw on the First Cultures and their different cosmogonies, their ancestral wisdom, providing him with the soil of his imagination necessary for the development of his artworks. Rimp mainly paints with acrylic paint on solid canvas, the color creating spaces to highlight the shapes that blend, complement each other, like a dance. Playing with faces, familiar from our birth and comforting. To play also with our multiplicity, that of the living or the inert, inspired by Primitives cultures, to seek the sacred in all things, to realize that we are the part of a more complex Whole. Reveal our personal ability to create associations, interpret an image like no other. There is no preconception at the beginning, just a theme and then an automatic writing reorganized then to get, ultimately, as a fetish. Interest for ancient cultures, pre-Columbian, African, Aboriginal as well as for writing, calligraphy, associated or in comparison to our modern world. Interest also for the urban culture and its diversity. Stop, take the time to meet oneself, create your own visual associations based on your background. Plunge into a meditative landscape. His work is between figuration and abstraction, close to cubism, surrealism, with a touch of pop culture.
