About the Artist
Lydia Gardner
I am showing at with preview 6th October 6pm-9pm and exhibition until 30th October. See for exhibition details.
I am profoundly affected by light and bright colour, choosing to paint mainly during summer months. Painting has had a hugely cathartic effect on me and continues to be my bedrock, there for me to fall back on when ever life seems to conspire against me. To react against darker forces, my work acts as an anti-depressant - it is bright and rebellious, drawing on fauvism and other bold 20th Century styles.
I deliver creative workshops to school children in Hackney that celebrate diversity and positive cultural identity.
I also act as agent for a collective of east London artists.
