"Nothing Private" Painting

Always fascinated by people. Young, old, male, female, children... Their untransparent thoughts and habits, character and emotions. These I find in all layering of life, in present and past. In addition, I want to depict the essence and also allow a sensation of aesthetics. But within those undefinable laws of beauty, I search for an element that lifts the subject into a larger context. Furthermore I try to find a balance between reason and emotion, between what you see and what you feel, between expression and content.
I have a perception of things on multiple levels of reality. A process of acquiring, recording, interpreting, selecting and organizing sensory information on a worldly- and personal level. While painting I search for a tension between the objective and the subjective.
Between 2016 and 2018 I painted a series called ‘à la recherche du temps perdu’, in search of lost times. Originally it is the title of a novel by Marcel Proust, he wrote in 7 parts, early last century. These paintings have been exposed on several occassions. At the moment I am working on a new series, Shadows & Light.
