JUDITH RUDNICK KANE is a prolific fine artist and master of color, who has created an extraordinary body of work across various media and materials for over 50 years.  Her earlier non-objective color paintings lend themselves to atmospheric landscapes where incidental horizontal and vertical lines led Calvin Tomkins, art critic of The New Yorker to describe them as “in the tradition of [Richard] Diebenkorn.”  Her current work is informed by her continued passion for non-objective spatial organizations, which evoke a sensation of harmonious inner peace, free from grounded worldly restrictions.  For a while, Rudnick Kane transferred her artistic endeavors and virtuosity of color in painting to the visual effects of unique and custom color-lines in wearable fiber art. Her return to painting on canvas has enabled her to revisit a personal vision of color and space that construct her visually elegant signature works.  Rudnick Kane (b.1950) is an American artist born and based in New York City. She received her BFA cum laude, and MA in Painting from Hunter College, where she was privileged to have studied under Robert Swain, Sandy Wurmfeld, Doug Ohlson, and other teachers of the Hunter Color School genre. Raised on the Upper Westside of Manhattan, she attended NYC public schools including the High School of Music & Art, now LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. In addition to an extensive career as a professional artist, she has taught art and painting at all levels; including as an adjunct professor at Mercy College, Westchester Community College, and Bedford Hills Correctional Facility’s College Program under the auspices of Marymount Manhattan College.
