About The Artwork

Painted from 2014 to 2024. Unique painting technique. I started this one in 2014 in Oakland California and finished in January 2024 in San Francisco. I didn't touch it for 9 years but added a bit to it to finish it earlier this year. Looks awesome in person imho. The detail photos give you a good idea of what it looks like and if you have a wall spacious enough for the painting I would recommend using Saatchi Art's "View in Your Room" feature to see how it looks on that wall. It currently is hanging in the Art Explosion studios in SF. If you want to see it in person get in contact with me and I'll be glad to show it. Or, purchase it and if you don't think it works on your wall you can of course return it. Although I prefer it horizontally as shown in the main image here, I also like it vertically and it is currently hanging vertically. This is an unstretched primed canvas that can be hung either by attaching to a wall as is using pins, clips or whatnot, or mounted on stretched canvas or board, or hung using something such as a tapestry or quilt hanger. I don't recommend stretching the piece itself on stretcher bars as edges of the painting would be lost, however the buyer can do what they want, of course.

I was born, raised and lived most of my life in the South Bay Area in Northern California. I majored in Art-Painting at San Jose State University in the late 1970s where I studied under Fred Spratt, Stuart Baron, and Randall Sadler among others. However, I consider myself mostly self taught in painting and in the knowledge of art history. At 12 years of age I saw a huge Van Gogh exhibit which had a big impact on me. Shortly thereafter I got into artists such as Picasso, Pollock, Miro, Klee, Goya, and the old masters. Although I have painted all my life I have only just recently begun to focus on my art career and consider myself a late emerging artist. My work is owned by collectors throughout the world. One of the things that sets me apart from other artists in my opinion is that I like to explore different styles, from figurative surrealism type works to abstract expressionism, lyrical abstraction to minimalism to what others have called maximalism. Picasso is probably my favorite artist of all time and one of the lessons I learned from him was that an artist shouldn't be limited to one style.
