William Wegman (famous photographer) who always take picture of his dog and model, inspired me for this art work, this time I took a cat instead of a dog. I also treated it in high colors which is really my own way of seeing my paintings.

Valérie Mayan was born in France in 1960. After many years of travelling (England, Germany, USA, Morocco), she decides to dedicate herself to painting since 1996. Watercolors of the Luberon, then paintings borrowed from the architecture of cities where the exuberant vegetation seems to defend its rights. Now her influences are turned toward animals often cats and dogs putting them in different themes and situation. She is also a pastellist and Sculptor. Today, animals have taken place on his paintings, they pose in different situations and are not without remembering our own attitudes to everyday life. "Imposing, treated in a fragmented way in solid colors, dogs and cats of Valerie Mayan invite us to an animal "Commedia dell'arte", whose viewer becomes an accomplice, sometimes identifying with one of them .Red, yellow, blue, the primary colors make the whole vibrate. Their looks defy us, a visual dialogue is installed charged with emotion. Can Valérie Mayan send us a message?" Gérard Testa
