ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork is a mixed media on marine plywood with a timber frame. Being an old builder I like to make these frames. I need them to be strong and durable due to the thick medium that I use. I love using thick medium as it creates beautiful textures , giving the piece more character through bulk and shadow lines which I cannot achieve through normal paints alone. The underlying earthy tones and vertical lines are the natural tannins in the marine ply. I decided to leave them in the piece and enhanced all the lines and textures with a black overcoat that was partially scrubbed off. This action reveled a fantastic result. This artwork is 122 cm wide and 81 cm high and 5 cm edges. It weights 7.7 Kgs. It is finished in a satin varnish which enhances the color and protects the paint. It is wired ready to hang. On the back is a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity and has felt cushions to protect your walls. This artworks will be shipped in a crate.

The assortment of bases gives Patrick’s work depth, while the bulk and shadow lines bolster the pieces character. As Patrick’s work is evolutionary his latest style remains contemporary abstract. He uses various mediums and acrylics in fluid states to produce a mixture of abstract colours and shapes. Most of Patrick’s inspiration comes from the everyday world around him. He enjoys the challenge of mastering different techniques. Patrick has had many exhibitions, either solo or combined with other artists. He has won acclaim and awards for his abstract imagination.
