About The Artwork
This painting is one of many inspired by a trip taken to Tasmania where I filmed, photographed and walked in the area surrounding Cradle Mountain. It was a moment of surreal beauty and rest. Travel is often the starting point for my work. The heightened sense of alertness when moving from place to place lends itself to collecting images; mental and photographic. Sounds, photographs, people you are with and film footage all are revisited to build a painting that hopefully exists independently, but is still personal to me. Old photographs, lyrics, cd's, brochures and maps are all present as inspiration in my studio.
