This painting is part of a series called the 'Way to Macedon'. The Macedon Ranges are about 2 hours north of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.

My painting is influenced by Mid-Century Modernism and the work of Paul Klee.

My work explores the simplification and interpretation of various forms predominately being the natural environment. With an emphasis on colour, pattern and light the painted works explore the notion of a fusion between representation and abstraction.

I'm interested in the way colour influence our emotions and internal states. There is a therapeutic aspect to art making which is just as important as the act of looking at art.

My work is about simplifying and interpreting various forms, most notably the natural environment. The painted works, with an emphasis on colour, pattern, and light, explore the concept of a fusion of representation and abstraction. I'm fascinated by the effects of colour on our emotions and internal states. Making art has a therapeutic component that is equally as important as viewing art. My primary influences for the linocuts include Australian printmakers Margret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan, as well as Japanese printmakers Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the Ssaku-Hanga woodblock print movement ("creative prints") from the twentieth century. My painting is inspired by Paul Klee, Marc Chagall, Arthur Boyd, and Mid-Century designers and illustrators. Among the artworks for sale are lino cut prints, woodcut prints, and Giclée fine art digital prints. All linocut prints are hand-printed without the use of a press. Each print in the edition is distinct and one-of-a-kind.
