About The Artwork
In ancient Greece (and other countries) Oracles were human portals through which the gods spoke directly to people. The model in this painting is a highly intuitive artist who often meditates in the ancient stone circles of Britain. Like a modern day Oracle of Britain. In this pose I wanted to convey the wanting of humanity to receive some kind of direction from the Gods, the universe, the ancestors, the morphic field or whatever the individual interprets the power to be. The work started out as a pencil life drawing on wood and was painted after the sitting. The bowl is not painted and reveals the wood surface.
