“Orange Mistress” is made with acrylic on paper and is visually inspired by old posters of space movies and how they depict women. In my artwork I intended to focus again on the shiny optics – that is why I decided to make all the work in a latex-like environment, including the dress. I am not afraid of portraying sexy, lascivious woman in provoking latex dresses because I feel that emancipation should also show strong females that are openly dealing with their sexuality, lust or even fetish. I chose orange for her dress because it combines the signal color red and the rather rational yellow. Orange means vitality, joy, carefreeness, and exotic liveliness – which is exactly what I want my female in the center to be and feel. Women should feel free in their sexuality and not oppressed. While they are enjoying this freedom, however, they should remain in control – that is why my female figure is a “Mistress”, and not in any form a subordinate. The transparent look is equally a metaphor for being "transparent" with yourself and with your own sexuality. The woman and the whole setting are not only "transparent" for the observer, but also to emphasize that the female figure is able to share or show what she wants. She is not naked though because although transparency is given she does not fully have to disclose herself thereby preserving a certain control.

Lena Snow is a fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest (near Baden-Baden) where she is working on her latest artworks while keeping in touch with nature. Lena is specialized in female portraiture and sensual art with her main medium being paper. She earned a Master's degree at the University of Mannheim and Karlsruhe. "I explore various aspects of femininity and female identity in my paintings. My inspiration are personal stories of women I encountered, but also female characters in mythology, film, and literature. They are a new, powerful, and emancipated approach of one’s identity and sexuality, and at the same time they stand for empowerment for all women. For a long time only men have painted women, neglecting their personal stories of ambivalence, trauma and multifaceted nature, but it is time that women change the narrative and capture their unique stories by contributing to a new, empowered expression of elevated femininity." Lena has exhibited internationally, and has been published in several art and lifestyle magazines around the world. The award-winning artist is also editor of the international art magazine Goddessarts Magazine.
