Tessa I. Richter was born in London and was raised in an international, multi-lingual and multicultural environment. With a British mother and German father, during her formative years she lived in various European countries including Switzerland (where she now lives) and in the US where she studied classical music as a Fulbright scholar. After a high-flying international career as a professional classical musician, Tessa found additional new outlets for her creativity, becoming a professional painter and sculptor exhibiting internationally. Tessa's compositions and her art are still influenced by her background as a classical musician and she uses musical reference points such as structure, variations and the development of an idea or a theme in her art. Tessa is also fascinated by using music and art as gateways to other dimensions. This is evident [in her “hearing colours” series of musical compositions and paintings – Tessa, we should only include this if you are are going to sell those paintings online] and her courses given at the Universites of Zürich and Basel: “The inner pulse of music” or “Images and their language: perception and understanding” or “Co-creating reality“ and many more. Her experience of other states of consciousness in music and art, together with pain she was experiencing as a result of several accidents she had as a teenager, launched Tessa’s quest for inspiration, spirit and meaning in a modern world. This took her to South Africa, India, Nepal and Native American lands, where she experienced how culture and cult are linked together. She delved into different states of consciousness through meditation, shamanistic trance and body work, and found modern quantum physics as a basis to connect the mystical East and the rational, technically oriented West. She also discovered the power of images, colours, symbols and sounds and led her to combine her music and art with spirituality and with elements of many different cultures. She says: “Starting out, originally, in search of inspiration in music, I found that spirit is everywhere, not just in art. If we invite it into our lives, it will guide us, inspire us and make our lives worthwhile.
