The Knysna Sea Horse is a small delicate creature. It has a very small population whish has only a very small population footprint, on the South Coast of South Africa, putting it in imminent danger of extinction. I have attempted to highlight its plight encapsulating an oil on curved canvas painting, of curious observers as a male Seahorse performs his duty and hatches a Seafoal (baby) from his pouch; in a metaphorical fish tank, draped with broken fish net and the estuary sand adorned with lost fishing tackle and plastic pollution. I pushed the envelope on endangered species and the joy of birth further by painting a Loggerhead and a leatherback turtle, bot highly endangered, hatching on either end of the canvas. Not yet content, I added Abalone (perlemoen) shells to the sand. This mollusk is the most highly sort after species by poachers on the South African coast line.

Multiple international award winning artist. Unlocked to make a difference. BR longs to create, not replicate. He aims to be visually disruptive. He is an Impact Impressionist. BR is a largely self-educated artist who has been painting in oils for many years. However, only since his retirement from business life in 2020 has he pursued an artistic public persona. He immediately began winning international online awards for his work created since then and local collectors have taken note. He has unearthed multiple influencers he can draw on, but only for their creativity, and not for style. He is fiercely determined to create and not replicate either images or other artists. BR’s subjects are predominantly land/seascapes, endangered wildlife, other animals and portraits. He chooses what intrigues him for a variety of reasons, researches the subject, and then creates a unique image from multiple stimuli. He pursues his creative passion in 3 forms, all of which he collectively describes as Impact Impressionism. Firstly, BR reflects his version of impressionism on unique curved and shaped canvases he designs for each artwork himself – creating a 3D effect which is regrettably difficult to merchandise in photographs. Then, his personal energy liberation - abstract expressionism with subject retention. He also paints in an impressionistic style on traditional flat canvases.
