"It is around me, It is everywhere. I can feel it, be in it, and I can make it burst from me. Transforming the canvas into a field of experiences; joy, sadness, trust, love, hate, disgust, faith, inspiration, anxiety, happiness, pleasure or perception of an entity of certain object or place. The Momentum breaths – distinctively. Seeing is the ultimate passion.. and an extreme, intense bodily flight through the canvas. Corporeality manifests itself in the reality of painting as the intentional strong involvement of the body in the painting, the movements, speed, flaws, stains, etc. visible on the canvas – they are an essential part of the physicality of my paintings, at the same time, they also testify of my existence which is not always so obvious or self-evident." Adeleia U is a Finnish contemporary artist. She is completely self-taught and her painting, photography-video -work and writing is based on experimental physical-spiritual intertwining. She paints abstract and figurative, and also a combination of these. Abstract artworks are mostly expressionistic. The momentum which emerges out of the canvas. She experiments with paint, with the painting process itself including her body, the movements, sounds, and sense of touch. She loves the incompleteness and defects and the materiality of the paint and canvas. She constructs the painting by layer after layer, then reduction, and deleting, then again new layer, scraping, deleting. Until the piece is itself. Figurative or pieces with figurative elements come from past events and experiences, happened miraculous occurrences, old family photographs, imagination, dreams or real eerie situations. Supernatural and spirit world are present in many pieces. There is an entity in a painting and the painting itself intrinsically is an entity which must be tempted to emerge. There is always a mystical part in the painting process and she praises that. In the final artwork that must be necessarily present.
