Caty Marie -Abstract Expressionist Artist Medium: Acrylic, oil, charcoal and found items on Canvas, Linen and wood. I think of my work much like the beginning of a conversation; a vulnerable reflection of my old soul. Often times I feel as though a piece is never quite finished and I struggle with that, yet, I find some comfort in the thought that perhaps it can only truly be complete with an observers perception of it. Like the exchanging of dialogue or a question that can only be answered by another. As an artist, I am only one facet of the work-it takes more than me to make it complete. I am self taught and not formally trained so I lean heavily on pure rawness from my past to dictate movement and composition in each piece. I decided to find beauty in the madness that is my mind and to make an abstraction out of a constantly evolving emotional state. My hope is that the observer finds a deeper meaning in each piece that provokes a philosophical thought and expression, something that leaves them with a question. I was born and raised in the midwest, transplanted in Los Angeles, CA.
