ABOUT THE ARTWORK
‘Pagoda at Kiyomizudera, Kyoto’ original acrylic and ink painting on cut paper. Presented in a 25 x 25cm box frame. Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺), formally Otowa-san Kiyomizu-dera (音羽山清水寺), is a Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto. The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site. The foreground detail is lifted from a soft background painting, creating an interesting theatrical effect as the raised shape casts a shadow on the illustration below. This painting is packed in a cardboard box, protected inside with tissue paper, eco bubble wrap and void filling brown paper.
