About The Artwork

Inspired by leftover paint on a former palette, floral arrangements, textural colour and juxtaposition of contemporary against traditional. Contemporary with a classic edge, Palette Fleur brings a pop of colour to the modern home. Clockwise from top left. “Peach Pop” - This work is made from wholly recycled and reused products, including reclaimed polystyrene sheeting, recycled paper and a canvas shoe bag! The detailing of this bag can still be seen; on the left margin is the drawstring seam. I intended this work to be textural, to contrast with the relative smoothness of the other works in the collection. Oil on reused fabric; reclaimed polystyrene; recycled paper. Artwork dimension 240x240mm. “Abstract Palette” - This piece was inspired by some leftover paint on my artists' palette; the selection and placement of colours and negative space intrigued me. I chose to interpret my inspiration in an abstract way, also taking influence from the techniques of artists such as William McLure and Cy Twombly. Acrylic and pastel on linen stretched canvas, timber shadowbox frame. Framed artwork dimensions 785x1045mm. “Blue Pop” - I explore reuse and recycling in this work. The structure of this piece is provided by a sheet of reclaimed polystyrene, while the fabric had a previous life as a fabric shoe bag. I intended this work to be textural, to contrast with the relative smoothness of the other works in the collection. Oil on reused fabric; reclaimed polystyrene; recycled paper. Artwork dimension 240x240mm. “Hydrangea Posy” - The original floral arrangement that inspired this work was by Australian florist Flowers Vasette. The interesting structural and colour combination of flowers is what inspired me to create this composition, and the colours reference back to my work Abstract Palette. Oil on raw linen stretched canvas. Unframed, artwork dimensions 405x505mm. “Pink Pop” - This artwork is intended to complement my Hydrangea Posy piece - I designed this abstract work to pick up on some subtle colour references in Hydrangea Posy. The soft pink of the roses, and pinks in the orchid centers are referened in the pink 'pops' in this abstract work. The earthy greens and greys are also intended to complement the background and flowers in Hydrangea Posy. Oil on board; upcycled frame. Framed artwork dimension 345x300mm. “Lemon Pop” - This artwork is intended to complement my Snap Dragon Posy artwork - I designed this abstract work to pick up on some subtle colour references to Snap Dragon Posy. Lemon yellow is used sparingly in Snap Dragon Posy, so I used this colour as the 'pop' in my abstract work. The neutral and soft green tones are also intended to complement the background and flowers in Snap Dragon Posy. Oil on board; vintage frame. Framed artwork dimension 360x310mm. “Snap Dragon Posy” - I find sources of inspiration from a multitude of sources - other artworks, artists, the world around me..but every now and then I see something that I must paint. This artwork was just that; a bouquet of flowers from the florists at Flowers Vasette. The colours, styling and flowers used really spoke to me and I had to capture the image in paint. Oil on raw linen stretched canvas. Unframed, artwork dimensions 405x505mm.

Hi! I'm Penny. Eclette is my brand and expression of self - I design and handmake eclectic and vibrantly colourful artworks. Eclette is a mix of the words 'palette' and 'eclectic' on account of my love of eclectic homes filled to the brim with colourful, eclectic art - I believe that a house is not a home unless it is full of things that shout individuality and personality. A core focus of my practice is on sustainability – my background in Zoology has led me to find creative ways to reduce and recycle waste and this flows into my art and the evolution of my hand-built vessels, wall sculptures and now furniture! I hand sculpt from a material I call ‘cardcrete’, made from cardboard pulp that uses 100% recycled cardboard. Once the moulded shapes are dry the resulting product is robust and tactile. These unique sculptures create a new life for a waste product.
