Mauricio Vidania is a multidisciplinary artist born in Bogotá, Colombia, with family roots in the Antioquia region, as well as Spain and Germany. His work is shaped by movement, endurance, cultural heritage, and narrative experimentation. He holds a BA in International Business from Regent’s College London and a Master’s degree in Statistics and Information Management from NOVA University Lisbon. Alongside his artistic practice, Mauricio has developed a professional career in business operations and consulting, having worked with global companies such as Google, and more recently advising local businesses in Portugal. Sport has played a fundamental role in his life since an early age. A dedicated kiteboarder since the age of 12, Mauricio found early inspiration on the Caribbean island of San Andrés, where time spent with family and commanding the sea became central to both his personal and creative identity. He competed at an amateur level in kitesurfing freestyle in Colombia, achieving second place nationally in 2007, before transitioning into endurance sports. His athletic achievements include second place in the Vuelta a San Andrés (32 km Running), completing Ironman Lanzarote, finishing an ultra-distance trail race in Santa Maria Island, Azores, and cycling the Camino de Santiago, an experience that has deeply inspired his spiritual perspective. Creatively, Mauricio’s artistic sensibility was strongly influenced by his mother, who nurtured his passion for art, imagination, and creative experimentation. In 2018, he initiated the project Di Nazaré, an evolving artistic universe that began as a series of unconventional and often humorous Instagram narratives. Over time, the project expanded into a multidisciplinary practice encompassing recycled mixed-media works with acrylics, sculptural pieces, and digitally designed illustrations. Through Di Nazaré, Mauricio explores symbolism, esoteric interpretations of military strategy and inherited cultural roots, weaving them into contemporary narratives that bridge digital culture, personal history, and physical materials. The project deliberately resists a fixed meaning; its mystique, ambiguity, and openness to interpretation are integral to its identity. Rather than offering definitive conclusions, Di Nazaré seeks to inspire reflection while using humor as a critical lens to question how history, power, and collective memory are constructed, transmitted, and at times manipulated. 👉 IG: maurovidania
