Contact us.Jack Kriss ( Jacek Krzysik ) is a Polish painter living permanently in Hastings
He is a permanent member
ArtForum in Hastings, where he regularly exhibits. Born in 1947, studied in the years 1973 -
1978 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. (former branch
Bauhaus Art Academy)
In 1978 he defended his diploma at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture in the field of
painting. Jacek Krzysik took part in various individual and collective exhibitions in
Poland and abroad, mainly in England. After graduation, he started working as an independent designer and creator of numerous murals in Poland.
In 1991, he founded his own art gallery in Krakow, "Susan Gallery", where he organized several exhibitions
in Poland and abroad, and founded a screen printing studio, where he printed posters and leaflets
for galleries and cultural institutions in Krakow (Poland).
In 2005 he decided to come to England, first settling in Farnborough
then a year later he moved to Tunbridge Wells, working as a care assistant in residential homes. In 2007, the artist decided to rent a studio and return to painting.
The main topic in the years 2007 - 2021 was
mainly "Still life" and portrait.
He commissioned several portraits of elderly people.
Currently, his main interest is abstraction. The artist uses various techniques, looking for his own methods of expression. A significant part of Jack Kriss early work was lost during the disruption of emigration and the closure of the Kraków gallery. The surviving practice is therefore not only a continuation but also an act of reconstruction.”
The artist's works are in private collections in Poland, Germany, France, Canada, USA,
England, Japan.
