A painting of a red rose. What matters to me in a painting is feeling. What do I mean by the word feeling? They are mysterious, elusive, and insubstantial. The close-up view enables one to see the delicate petals of this flowers’ blossom, which totally fills the canvas. The small size of the canvas makes this painting the ideal option for limited and small spaces or to complete any wall art grouping. This painting is signed by me and titled Pardes #5. A big part of the making of this painting was concerned with the value of balance. I did not paint the values as I saw them. I hoped for an effect of the light—I wanted that red rose to stand out. But I also liked to keep the painting light overall. I want it to feel light. Gentleness. Softness. Those are metaphorical associations that describe how I felt about what I was painting. Lately, I have been trying to concentrate more on the bigger picture—on the overall value balance and the impact of the painting as a whole. Symbolically, the rose is connected with paradise—for the down is the reflection of the roses of heaven, as the sunset glow reflects the flames of hell. This small painting of the red rose was an empowering one to do. As an artist, I love doing small paintings like this one, as it enables me to work on numerous art pieces in the same painting sessions. Oftentimes, you will find me working on a big canvas and having a few mini or small paintings going at the same time.

In my work I make my utmost effort to bring forward the abundant beauty and splendor that is withheld in the Judaic Art. In my method, I do this by embedding the numerous Jewish symbols and icons that have developed throughout many centuries of our rich history and heritage. The symbols mainly identify signs of fortune from the Kabbalah like good health, prosperity, fertility and so on. I believe, that when a person stares at the picture and detects the signs, the fortune will come upon him or her.Peace and Blessings from Israel
